Bill Dale

Bill Dale

Director

Bio

Born at St Winifred’s nursing home on the edge of Ilkley Moor in 1961 (think ‘Call The Midwife’), Bill is a lifelong Ilkley resident, having been brought up and educated in the town.

Passing up a couple of offers to read Urban Estate Management at university, Bill joined a local firm of surveyors, qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 1987. His aptitude for the sales market was quickly obvious, and his entrepreneurial drive was rewarded with opportunities to ‘cold start’ new offices in Burley in Wharfedale (1984) and Guiseley (1989).

1992 saw Bill return to Ilkley after a short and informative spell in the Los Angeles market, including time spent bringing ‘Selling Sunset’ to Wharfedale!

Facing a challenging and subdued market post the Lawson Boom, Bill joined forces with William Eddison to set up an agency which over the following three decades became the local market leader and secured a number of prestigious national awards. For several years Bill served as chairman of the Yorkshire branch of the Relocation Agent Network, and on the RAN national advisory council.

Away from the office Bill and his wife Ros have 3 adult children and now enjoy helping with the next generation in the spirited form of grandchildren Ted & Ivy. Varied sporting interests include cricket, where Bill has served as a trustee of the Olicanian CC for many years. A self-confessed average cricketer, his junior coaching efforts were more successful, having coached England batting sensation Harry Brook on how to hold a bat! Weekends often see Bill in the press box at Elland Road, The John Smiths Stadium or at Headingley bringing live sports commentary to patients in LGI and St James Hospital via Leeds Hospital Radio.

William Eddison

William Eddison

Director

Bio

Hailing from nearby Burley Woodhead, William comes from a long and distinguished line of surveyors and valuers, his great great great great grandfather having founded national property firm Eddisons in 1851.

Adhering to family tradition he was educated at Rugby School, following in the footsteps of the famous Tom Brown. After a brief flirtation with hotel management, which included an all-night ‘lock in’ with John Cleese and a cameo role in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, common sense prevailed and William returned to the path first trodden by his ancestors back to the property market. A degree in Urban Estate Management from Oxford Brooks University followed.

Following a varied early career with a firm of Wakefield based auctioneers and a short spell in sales with a Harrogate agency William returned to his Wharfedale roots to take up a post with an established Ilkley estate agency. A decade later, restless to paddle his own canoe, he teamed up with Bill Dale to set up their own firm in a very challenging market. Their eponymous agency would go on to establish itself as market leader over three decades, winning numerous national awards.

Away from the office, William enjoys nothing more than scaling the hills around his Starbotton home with Peggy his fox red Labrador. A great project manager, numerous local organisations have benefited from his involvement over many years, notably Upstagers Theatre Group, Ilkley & District Round Table and Westville House School where he served as a governor for many years.
